Baker Rites at Edgewood September 13 - Native of Garber is Taken by Death September 10, 1945.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Edgewood, Ia. September 13, for Joseph David Baker 63, who died suddenly September 10 at the home of a neighbor in Edgewood. Burial was in the Hansel cemetery.Mr. Baker had been in poor health for the past three months, and his death was attributed to neuralgia of the heart.
He was born May 16, 1882 near Garber and in April 1905 he married Mary Hageman who preceded him in death in January 1917.
To this union six children were born, one of them dying in infancy.
Surviving Mr. Baker are his children: Mrs. Carter O'Neal of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Mrs. Robert Thoester, Guttenberg; Mrs. Ross McKinney, Brainard, Minnesota; Carl Baker of Lamont; and Kenneth Baker of Colesburg. Also surviving are five sisters and one brother, Charles Baker of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Genie Borrett of Garber; Mrs. Florence Purman of Garber; Mrs. Lettis Jeniks of Greeley; Mrs. Hazel Harbaugh of Dubuque; and Mrs. Ada Ridenaur of Edgewood, Ia. Mr. Baker also has 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
