WILLIAM MORITZ 91, PASSES ON
William Frederick Mortiz (sic), died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Stadtmiller, near Luana, Saturday morning, June 9, 1934, at 11:0o'clock after a few days illness.
He was born in Germany, January 21, 1843. At the age of 21 years he came to the United States and two years later, July 4, 1870, he was united in marriage to Marie Stiehl, who preceded him in death four years ago the third of June. This union was blessed with nine children, two of whom died in infancy.
For almost thirty-two years, the family had their home on their farm a few miles south of Luana. In 1902 they retired from the farm and moved to Postville, where they resided for twenty-eight years. For the last three years he had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Celia Stadtmiller.
Mr. Moritz was a fine type of christian manhood, a kind and indulgent husband and father, a good neighbor and a true friend, all who came to know this estimable man will mourn his passing and sincerely sympathize with those bound to him by a closer tie.
He is survived by one son, Herman Moritz of Monona; and six daughters, Mrs. Emma Peters, Monona; Mrs. Cecila Stadtmiller, Luana; Mrs. Ella Hubacher, Mason City; Mrs. Minnie Klotzbach, Neenah, Wis.; Mrs. Lillian Meckfessel, Cleveland, Ohio; and Miss Elizabeth Moritz of Chicago, Ill. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 27 great-
grandchildren.
At the time of his passing, Mr. Moritz was aged 91 years, four months and 19 days.
The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, June 12th, the pastor, Dr. R.B. Garten officiating. Interment was made in the family plot in Postville cemetery.NOTE: Parents were Hans Friedrich Moritz and Catherine Marie Heuer
