OBITUARY ( Monona, IA Billboard newspaper, October 15,1981)
Hazel M. Moritz, 80, a resident of Postville Good Samaritan Center, died Wednesday, October 7, 1981, at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville (IA).
She was born February 27, 1901, in Hayward, Wisconsin. She was baptized as an infant, was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.
She was united in marriage to Ervin W. Moritz September 7, 1918. They lived on a farm near Postville for many years, and several years on a farm near Elkader, (IA). They moved to Elkader in 1951.
She was active in church work, Eastern Star, Coterie, B.P.W., Federated Women's Club and worked as a dental assistant for 20 years. For the past eight years she made her home in Monona.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, in Ferbruary 1963; son Homer in January 1950, son Alan in December 1953, and a grandson Billy (Schultz) in October, 1955.
Surviving are daughters Mrs. Ross (Lois) Powell of Ventura, California and Mrs. Malin (Dorothy) Schultz of Monona.; 14 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 9, 1981, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader. The Witt Funeral Home, Elkader was in charge of arrangements. She was laid to rest in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Clayton Center,(IA).
