OBITUARY: (assume from Monona, IA newspaper) Dec. 15, 1961

Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Moritz, 86, were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral Home with Rev. R.C. Schlueter officiating. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Mrs. Moritz died Friday afternoon, Dec. 15, at 2 o'clock in Palmer Memorial hospital in West Union from a cerebral hemorrhage after an illness of six weeks.

As Amelia, she was born the daughter of August and Martha nee Young* Lange, Aug. 11, 1875 in Wagner Township, Clayton Co.,(IA). She received her education in the rural schools of her community.

She was married to Herman Moritz at Luana, March 7, 1895. They went to farming in the Luana community and later north of Monona on the farm now owned by Don Hubacher. About 20 years ago, she moved with her sons Harold and Milo, to a farm near Elgin and later to a farm near West Union.

Preceding her in death were her husband, who died June 1, 1939; her parents; one sister, Mrs. Hannah Overbeck; and two brothers, August and Henry Lange.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bert (Amy) Crary of Madison, Wis. and Mrs. Melvin (Edna) Mitchell of LaGrange, Ill; five sons, Erwin (sic) of Elkader, Harold and Milo of West Union, William of Waukon and Felix of Monona; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Music at the services was provided by Don Sabbam, soloist, Mrs. George Heins was the organist.

Pallbearers were Page Dull, EarlAllert, Harold Jarms, Harry Bacon, Walter Bruehahn, Hubert Sass, Lloyd Bacon and Bert Bruehahn.

*There is some confusion concerning the last name "Young". I know in Germany her last name was spelled Junge, (pronounced Mungie or Mung). When they came to America it was changed to Young or Younger. Have conflicting information concerning which was name used.
