Fette, Dolores Arlene (Geisler) 1933-2009

Dolores Arlene Fette, 75, of rural St. Olaf, passed away quietly at her home on Friday, February 6, 2009, following a long courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Monday, at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating. Burial followed in Norway Lutheran Cemetery, St. Olaf. The Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader, assisted the family.

Dolores Arlene Fette was born on October 10, 1933, at Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Kenneth Sr. and Hilda (Cornwell) Geisler. She was baptized on December 30, 1934, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. She was confirmed on June 26, 1949, at the Lutheran Church in Wauzeka. She graduated from Wauzeka High School in 1952.

On October 6, 1953 she was united in marriage to Virgil Fette at the Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. Dolores loved to quilt, cook, play cards and spend time with family and friends. She also loved her time in Texas with her friends whom she called her second family. She was very involved with her church, and loved her church family.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil Fette of St. Olaf; four children, James Fette of St. Olaf, Diana (Brad) Butikofer of Marion, Steven (Julie) Fette of Coggon and Lori (Todd) Balekos of Monona; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis (Sharon) Geisler of Prairie du Chien, and Kenneth Geisler Jr. of Wauzeka; and a sister, Rosemary Arneson of Prairie du Chien.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roger Geisler.

Casket bearers were Justin Fette, Brandon Balekos, Adam Fette, Nicholas Fette, Steven Kramer and Matthew Bishop.
