McMillin, Delbert Dean 1923-2009

Delbert Dean McMillin was born the son of Clarence and Leona (Tangeman) McMillin on December 15, 1923 near McGregor Iowa. He passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Prairie Maison Nursing Home in Prairie du Chien.

Delbert was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo and later confirmed May 31, 1936 by M. Jo Harder. He attended a rural country school for his first 8 years and then graduated from the McGregor High School on May 29, 1941.

Delbert later married Bernita Schulte on October 19, 1945 at St. Paul's Church by Rev. Victor Hackbarth. For many years, Delbert and Bernita farmed together and raised their children. When Delbert wasn't farming he enjoyed, fishing, hunting, playing cards with his friends and spending time with his family.

Delbert's memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 63 years Bernita McMillin of Prairie du Chien Wis.; two daughters, Connie (James) Peterson of Garnavillo and Pam (Rod) Davis of Albert Lea, Minn.; five grandchildren, Renee Grace, Erikk (Candi) Peterson, Ellie (Mark) Pichelmann, Tim (Brie) Davis and Andy (Mandi) Davis; eight great-grandchildren, Dion, Alexis, Noah, Hailey, Logan, Sadie, Emma and Ty; two brothers, Harold McMillin, Sr. of Elkader and Merrill (Margaret) McMillin of Prairie Du Chien, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Mardell and Lesa.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 001 S. Industrial Park Rd., Garnavillo IA, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 and one hour before service at church. Funeral service will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, Iowa at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009, Rev. Galen Kuhens officiating. Interment will be at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.
