Darren Allen Knospe, 29, of Volga, died at his home on Monday, January 12, 2009. He was born on May 29, 1979, to Kendall and Evelyn (Erickson) Knospe at Elkader. Darren graduated from Central Community High School in 1997. During his younger years, he was involved with Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working with his computer. Darren was currently employed at K Construction.

Survivors include his parents; paternal grandmother, Kay Knospe of Elkader; maternal grandparents, Stanley and Viola Erickson of Elkader; siblings, Kevin (Sharnel) Knospe of St. Olaf, Kelly (Bob Eilers) Knospe of Guttenberg, Tony Knospe of St. Olaf; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and friends.

Darren was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Keith Knospe and two aunts, Kathy O'Shea and Kristine Stluka.

Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, is in charge of arrangements. Funeral Services were on Friday, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Elkader with Pastor Jim Klosterboer officiating. Interment was in the East Side Cemetery, Elkader, Iowa.

Casketbearers were Jeremy Brown, Derek Benson, Brian Engelhardt, Luke Lott, Aaron Crane, Mark Schutte.
