Evelyn Anna Germaine Klima, daughter of Frank and Rose Lestina Klima, was born March 25, 1905 in Giard Twp., Clayton Co., Iowa. She was baptized by Father M. J. Hogan at St. Patrick's Church in Monona in April 1905, and confirmed in June 1916 at St. Gabriel's Church, Prairie du Chien, by the Bishop of LaCrosse.

She received her education in the Monona Public School and St. Patrick's School. While the family lived in Prairie du Chien, she attended St. Gabriel's School and St. Mary's Academy.

She graduated from the Monona Public School with the class of 1922 and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA. After receiving a teacher's certificate she taught in the rural schools of Giard and Monona Twp. for 16 years. She then enrolled in Spencerean Business college in Milwaukee, WI and worked for a time as secretary for the Kahling Electric Co. in Milwaukee. In 1942 she entered St. Francis School of Nursing in LaCrosse, WI and then worked as an undergraduate nurse and secretary in the office of Dr. E. G. Kettelkamp for 39 years. She also assisted in the dental office of Dr. Jasman and Dr. Truax.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and was an organist and choir member for 40 years. She belonged to St. Patrick's Rosary Society, Royal Neighbors of America and the Monona Senior Citizens Club.

Evelyn died Saturday, January 22, 2000 at Preston Good Samaritan Center, Preston, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Charlotte and Marie. Survivors include a nephew Robert (Grace) Black of Preston, MN.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, IA, with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Monona. Pallbearers were Duane Scheffert, Ralph Welch, Pete Kettelkamp, Andy Buckles, Don Voss, and Kelvin Langmaid.
