Moose, Grace (Jacobia) 1917-1991

Funeral services for Mrs. Milburn Moose were held Monday, Dec. 23, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville. The Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. Janice Schultz was the organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Grace (Jacobia) Moose, daughter of Homer and Isabell (Thyne) Jacobia, was born May 26, 1917 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She passed away Friday evening, Dec. 20, 1991 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Verta and Keith Kerr, who live near Postville.

She was baptized June 24, 1917 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clermont. Grace attended the rural school in Grand Meadow Township and the Postville high School. On August 24, 1932 she was married to Milburn Moose at Waukon. To this union two daughters were born.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents, a brother David Jacobia and her husband, Milburn, who died on Feb. 10, 1978.

Surviving are her daughters, Ednah and her husband Gilbert Wiethorn, Jr. of McGregor, and Verta and her husband Charles Keith Kerr of Postville; four grandchildren, Sheryl Moses, Cindy Berns, Scott Kerr, and Kenneth "KJ" Kerr; eight grandchildren, James, Lori and Lisa Moses, Bradley, Stacy and Rebecca Berns, and Kristina Kerr and Devian Kerr.

Also surviving are two sisters who lived with Grace and Milburn until they graduated from high school, Helen (Gene) Watson of Waukon, and Ruth (Luther) Groth of Postville; a sister-in-law, Martha Jacobia of Clermont; and two aunts, Eileen Putz of Edgewood and Josephine Thyne of Strawberry Point.

Casket bearers were Robert Moses, Scott Kerr, Dick Berns, Kenneth Kerr, and James Moses.
