Emma J. Shaw, 59, of McGregor, IA, died Tuesday October 20, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien following an almost eight year battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday October 26, 2009 at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor, IA with burial at the Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery at National, IA.

Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor.

Emma is survived by a brother Robert (Linda) Shaw of Marquette, IA, three sisters: Linda (Curt) Noach of Guttenberg, IA, Margaret Gorman of Waukon, IA, Helen (Allen) Meyer of Abingdon, IL; 18 nieces and nephews, 6 great nieces and nephews; a special uncle and aunt: Bill and Betty Knight of Edgerton, WI, many cousins and many, many friends.

Emma was born October 11, 1950 in Prairie du Chien, WI to LeRoy and Helen (Knight) Shaw. She grew up in the Marquette and McGregor area and graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1969.

She worked at the River Queen in McGregor for Mary Diehl for many years and she also owned the Red Baron in McGregor for many years. Emma enjoyed all her friends and family, and was a very caring and helpful person. She loved playing cards and shooting pool.

She was preceded in death by he parents, a brother and her grandparents.
