Alvin L. Jacobson, 52, of McGregor died Saturday November 7, 2009 from injuries suffered in a fall at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 14 at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor, with military honors by American Legion, AmVets, and VFW posts of McGregor and Marquette. Friends may call Friday, November 13 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Joan Betthauser of McGregor; two children, Brandon Betthauser and Jessica Jacobson, both of McGregor; a grandchild, Hailey Lynn Rosa; his mother, Arlene Jacobson of New Albin; three siblings, Nancy (Robert) Featherston of Prairie du Chien, WI, Victoria (James) Baures, Sr. of Lansing, and Patricia Miller of Caledonia, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Alvin was born February 23, 1957 in Viroqua, WI to Victor and Arlene (Seidel) Jacobson. He attended school at Kee High in Lansing and served in the Army for three years. Following his discharge he worked for Anderson Colorado Diesel, R&R Motors, and Debush Truck and Diesel for several years. Alvin then worked in the well drilling business from 1980 to 1987 and later for Nelson Hardwood until 1993. Alvin also worked for Joe Thompson, Clayton County Recycling and Alter Scrap Processing. He married Joan Betthauser December 20, 1996 in Elkader.
