Rites Held For Louis Kurdelmeyer

Louis Herman Kurdelmeyer, son of William and Mary Pieper Kurdelmeyer was born January 23, 1866 in Garnavillo township, Clayton county. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, by the Rev. F. W. Seifert. He received his schooling in the rural schools.

On February 12, 1891, he was united in marriage to Alvina Louise Martha Wendt in a service at Zion Lutheran Church. Five children were born to this union. The family resided on a farm near Monona.

Mrs. Kurdelmeyer passed away December 26, 1912, after a brief illness.

Late in 1919 he went to Howard county, making his home part of the time with his daughter, Mrs. Hugo Matt, and part of the time with his son, Roy. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cresco.

Mr. Kurdelmeier (sic) had been ailing since August 1944. For the past five years he had been at the Sorenson rest home, where he passed away Wednesday, February 15. He reached the age of 90 years, 23 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

He leaves to mourn his passing five children: Eldo of Postville; Florence, Mrs. Hugo Matt of Cresco; Louis of Little Fork, Minnesota; Alvin of Cresco; and Roy of Harmony, Minnesota; one brother, Fred, of Monona; one sister, Mrs. Fred Palas, of Luana; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was buried from the Bradley funeral home at Cresco on Saturday morning, February 18, at 10:00 a.m., then to Monona where the body lay in state from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. At 2:00 a service was held in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Monona with the Rev. R. C. Schuleter in charge. Burial was in Monona Lutheran cemetery.

Cresco- Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Bradley Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. in the Lutheran Church at Monona for Louis Kurdelmeier, 90, who died Wednesday evening at the Sorenson rest home in Cresco; retired farmer; leaves one daughter, Mrs. Hugo Matt, Cresco; four sons, Eldo, Postville; Louis, Little Fork, Minn.; Ray, Harmony, Minn., and Alvin, Cresco.
