Funeral services for Fred Carl Kurdelmeyer, 88, were held Saturday afternoon, Dec. 21, at 1:30 o'clock at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran church with Rev. R. E. Langholz officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the services. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery.
Mr. Kurdelmeyer died suddenly Tuesday evening, Dec. 17, a half hour after he was admitted to the Prairie du Chien Memorial hospital.
He was born July 14, 1875, in Read township, the son of William and Meta Marie, nee Pieper, Kurdelmeyer. He was baptized Aug. 4, 1875, at Zion Lutheran church in Clayton Center, and was confirmed at the same church, March 22, 1891, by Rev. F. W. Seifert. He attended the schools of that community.
Mr. Kurdelmeyer was married Sept. 24, 1903, to Elizabeth Ihde. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Monona, where he worked as a carpenter for most of his life. He also was engaged in the hardware business in Monona for several years.
He served as a member of the town council and also as a member of the school board.
Preceding him in death were his wife, who died in 1956; one son, Marvin, who died in 1960; and ten brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. LaNora Scherer and Greta; one son, Willis; one sister, Mrs. Fred Palas of Luana; three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Men of the community who worked with Mr. Kurdelmeyer in the carpentry trade served as an honorary escort. Pallbearers were Willis Lamker, Eugene Miller, Rudolph Garms, LaVerne Garms, Walter Garms, and Kenneth Thompson.
