Walter W. "Sockie" Bruehahn, son of Walter A. and Gladys (Schroeder) Bruehahn, was born September 6, 1934. He graduated from high school in 1952.

Walter was united in marriage to Lois Suckow June 2, 1957 at Maynard, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. Walter was engaged in farming.

Walter died Tuesday, March 30, 1999 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, IA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter; two nephews, Donald Dull and Allen Ball; and one niece, Joan Dull.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; one son, Wade Bruehahn of Monona, Iowa; three daughters, Brenda (Mrs. Brad Schneckloth) of Ida Grove, Iowa; Bonnie (Mrs. Larry Lembke) of Postville, Iowa and Barbara Schlitter of Luana, Iowa; his mother, Gladys Bruehahn of McGregor, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Alicia, Aaron and Aric Schneckloth, Curtis, Dana and Evan Lembke, Nikki and Amanda Schlitter; two sisters, Georgia (Mrs. Gene Dull) of Falls Church, Virginia and Gracie (Mrs. Donnie Plumlee) of Ridgely, West Virginia, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 3, 1999, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Pastors Bill and Kristine Schroeder officiated. Organist was Mrs. Connie Halvorson.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Moses and Bob Ball. Pallbearers were Wayne Landt, LaMoine Wentz, LeRoy Howard, Larry Schroeder, Jerry Schroeder, Larry Larson, Donnie Baade, and Kevin Monroe. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.
