Funeral services for John Kluth, 64, were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 23, at 2 o'clock at St. John Lutheran church at Farmersburg, with Rev. R. H. Steege officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 noon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery.
Mr. Kluth died of a heart attack Saturday morning, Feb. 20, at 7:55 o'clock, at the Elkader Community hospital. He had been ill for about a week.
He was born the son of John J. and Minnie, nee Baade, Kluth, Aug. 3, 1900, at Farmersburg. He was baptized Oct. 13, 1900 and confirmed April 5, 1914, by Rev. Guetzloff, at St. John's Lutheran church at Farmersburg, where he was a lifelong member.
He received his education at the Mecklenburg school and spent his entire life on the farm where he was born.
He was married to Alice Glawe Feb. 20, 1924, at Clayton Center. The couple farmed on the home place for 41 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Mrs. Fritzie (Minnie) Mueller; and a brother and two sisters in infancy.
Surviving are his wife; one son, John Verdine; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Mardella) Wiedenman; three sisters, Mrs. Gus (Caroline) Tielbar, Mrs. Fred (Elta) Tielbar, and Mrs. Marvin (Amanda) Mueller; and three grandchildren, all of Farmersburg.
Pallbearers were: Orval and Willis Tielbar, Orval and MaLloyd Mueller, Harry Knapp, LeRoy Eberhardt, and Harlan Zittergruen.
