GUTTENBERG, Iowa -- Hattie Marie Carrie (Winch) Clefisch, 87, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Shane Anderson Officiating. Burial will be in Ceres Cemetery, rural Guttenberg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Guttenberg. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1921, near Garber, daughter of Ernest A. and Rebecca (Thein) Winch. Hattie received her education locally and farmed with her family for 25 years.

She married Harley Clefisch on May 6, 1942, at St. John's Church in Garber; he preceded her in death. She was a housekeeper and homemaker for many years.

She loved flowers and taking care of Triangle Park for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and many other crafts.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she had served as president of the Ladies Aid, the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital Auxiliary, Josephine Rebekah Lodge 7, where she served as noble grand, and you could find her helping at the Blood Center.

We will always remember the smell of her baking homemade bread and pies.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Reimer, of Naples, Fla.; a son, Craig Clefisch, of Asbury; four grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Cherry, Tanya (Aaron) Michael, Lyndsi Clefisch and Kyle Clefisch; two great-grandchildren, Rylan and Brynleigh; and a brother, Vallie Winch, of Dickinson, N.D.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary; a brother; and four sisters.
