Kluss, Dalia Lena (Landt) 1887-1965

Funeral services for Mrs. Dalia Kluss, 78, were held Friday afternoon, Nov. 19, at 2 o'clock at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church with Rev. R. E. Langholz officiating. Burial was in the Postville City cemetery.

Last May 1, Mrs. Kluss fractured her hip and was admitted to the Postville hospital. Later she was taken to the Edgewood Convalescent home, where she died Nov. 16.

As Dalia Lena, she was born the daughter of Carl and Wilhelmina (Radloff) Landt, July 7, 1887, in Clayton county. She was baptized Sept. 18, 1887, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church in Postville.

She attended the rural schools of Clayton county. She walked from Luana to Monona for German confirmation school and was confirmed at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church in Monona, May 31, 1901, by Rev Johannes Graening.

She was married to George Kluss, Feb. 13, 1908, at St. John Lutheran church in Luana, the first couple to be married in the new church. The family lived on farms near Postville Junction, Castalia, and Waukon.
They moved to Postville in 1943, where they lived until her husband's death, Oct. 4, 1960. Since that time, she had made her home with her son, Howard, in Monona.

She had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran church in Postville.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two brothers, Charles and Fred Landt, and one half brother, Herman Landt.

Surviving are a son, Howard and his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Livingood of Postville and Mrs. Freda Cox of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, William Landt of Luana; a half sister, Mrs. Edith Heins of Luana; a half brother, Henry Landt of Luana; four granddaughters, Mrs. Donald (Georgean) Roffman of Sioux City, Mrs. Roger Fuelling of Monona, and Mary and Charlotte at home; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were: Vennie Brandt and Harvey, Dean, Harry, Lavern and Lorenz Landt
