Funeral services for Martha B. Kregel were held Wednesday, March 29, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona.
Martha Bertha Katherine Kregel, daughter of Albert and Emelia (Heller) Voelz, was born November 25, 1893 at Hawthorne, IL. She died Sunday morning, March 26, 1989 in Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.
She attended the Smithfield School in Volney. On April 12, 1908 she was confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona.
Martha was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.
She married Gustav Kregel October 17, 1922 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. They had 4 sons. They farmed in the Luana area for 35 years and in 1957 retired and moved to Postville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gustav, who died in 1973, her parents, 2 sons, Gerald, who died in infancy and Gordon, who died in 1976, one brother, Reinhold and 2 sisters, Ida Ihde and Alma, who died as a child.
Surviving are 2 sons, Eldon and his wife, Rita, of Luana; Don and his wife, Jane, of Monona; a daughter-in-law, Lavon, of Postville; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one brother, Carl Voelz of Postville and one sister, Marie Krueger of Farmersburg.
Casket bearers: Mark, Kent, Rodney, Ronnie, Roger, Rein, Scott, Neil and L'Dean Kregel.
