LeRoy Henry Kruse died Wednesday, October 14, 1987, at Marcus, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 17, 1987 at 2 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville. The Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements.

LeRoy Henry Kruse, son of William F. and Gertrude (Van Gorder) Kruse, was born October 15, 1903 in Monona Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana by the Rev. William Paulson and confirmed July 18, 1918 by the Rev. J. W. Westenberger.

He attended the rural schools near his home and the Luana School. On November 30, 1922 he was married to Eda M. Genz by the Rev. Kumph. The couple had 7 children. They farmed in the Luana area for many years.

After Eda's death, he married Hattie Woodall on December 1, 1962. They operated a paint and decorating store at Cherokee for many years. After their retirement, they moved to Marcus, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his wife Eda, who died December 9, 1960, and Hattie, who died September 9, 1987, a son, Virgil, who died in infancy, 3 grandchildren, Robert Kruse, Connie Kruse and Dennis Mohs, and a sister, Helen Riley.

Surviving are a daughter, Eileen (Harold) Mohs of Postville; 5 sons, Leo (Dorothy) Kruse of Minneapolis, MN, Marvin (Lula) Kruse of Luana, IA, Norman (Georgia) Kruse of Ames, Gene (Gretchen) Kruse of Tracy, CA and Jim (Diane) Kruse of Postville, 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and a step son, Bill Woodall of Marcus.

Casket bearers: Dale and Richard Mohs, Bradley, Kirk, Terry and Daniel Kruse, Greg Braun and Robert Radloff.
