JOHN BIEDERMANN

The death of John Biedermann, 64, occurred Wednesday, March 16, 1960, at his home in town following a five-weeks illness. Death was due to a blood clot.

John George Biedermann, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Biedermann, Sr., was born at Guttenberg, September 6, 1895. He grew to manhood and resided in Clayton Township.

He was married to Miss Laura Mueller of Garnavillo, at St. Paul’s Lutheran parsonage in Garnavillo.

He spent his entire life in Clayton County, farming near Garnavillo and in the Volga community.

In August 1959 he retired from the farm, and he and Mrs. Biedermann moved in their home in Volga.

On February 1 he was appointed mayor of Volga, but due to his illness was unable to serve in that capacity.

He leaves his wife, Laura; five sons, Lloyd, Leroy and Earl, Volga; Oliver, South Gate, Calif., and Louis, Davenport; one daughter, Mrs. Derryl (Helen) Leonhart, Joice; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Rohwedder, Guttenberg, and Mrs. Ray Werges, McGregor; two brothers, William, Dubuque, and Harold, Elkader, besides other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents and one sister.

Services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Herman Cronrath, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Fred Gernand, organist, accompanied Robert and Joyce Bushkofaky, vocalists. Burial was in the Garnavillo cemetery. Flower bearers were Mrs. Ray Leete and Mrs. Wm. Larson.

Honorary escorts were Wm. Christeleit, Howard Taylor, Lawrence Hulverson, James Whitford, Louis Zuercher and Hugh Tenney. Active excorts were Charles Bennington, Wm. J. Wilker Sr., Lawrence Newton, Glen Probert, Roy Rinkert and Wm. Larson.

Among the out-of-town relatives and friends present at the last rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
