Mrs. Knapp Rites Held at Monona

Funeral services for Mrs. John (Amanda) Knapp, 89, were held Thursday afternoon, April 15, at 2 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral home in Monona, with Rev. W. K. Bodamer of Prairie du Chien, Wis., officiating.

Burial was in the Council Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Knapp died Tuesday, April 13, at the Good Neighbor home in Manchester, where she had been a resident for the last ten months.

She was born the daughter of James and Elizabeth, nee Sawvell, Denning, Feb. 21, 1879, near McGregor. With the exception of two years that she lived near Harpers Ferry and the ten months she lived at Manchester, she lived her entire life in the McGregor vicinity.

She was married to John Knapp May 9, 1894, at Prairie du Chien, Wis., and the couple settled on a farm near Marquette.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; four brothers, and three sisters.

Surviving are one son, John LaVern of Harpers Ferry; three daughters, Mrs. A. (Letha) Kautman of Prairie du Chien, Mrs. Jerry (Olive) Watters and Mrs. L (Elsie) Eddings, both of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Tom James and Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz.

Pallbearers were: Kenneth Cahoon, Eldon Saeugling, Homer Foster, and Jim Kautman.

Amanda Knapp Passes Away
Amanda E. (Denning) Knapp passed away Tuesday, April 13, 1965, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, one month and 19 days. She was born in Clayton County in rural McGregor, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Denning.

With the exception of two years that she lived near Harpers Ferry and the ten months at Manchester, she lived her entire lifetime in this vicinity.

On May 9th, 1894, she was united in marriage to John M. Knapp at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Four children were born to this union: John LaVern, Harpers Ferry, Iowa; Mrs. A. Kautman (Letha), Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; Mrs. Jerry Watters (Olive), Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. L. Eddings (Elsie), Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, with Rev. Bodamer officiating. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Besides her four children, [cut off] mourn her passing are [cut off] grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Burial was in Council Hill Cemetery. Those attending from out of town were, Mrs. Arlene [?ercer], Shiela and Michael, of Kenosha, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Watters, Danny and David of Cuba City, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Ruff, Abbie and Rhonda of Hazel Green, Wis., Mr. Robert Look, [?ullsburg], Wis., Mrs. Gertrude Ferrin and Mrs. [?man] of Independence, Ia.
