Services for Leo Knickerbocker

On Monday, April 12, 1993, after a long illness, Leo John Knickerbocker passed away at Prairie du Chien, WI Memorial Hospital. Visitation for Leo was at Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa from 2 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 1993. Funeral services were Thursday, April 15, 1993 at 11:00 am. at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Following the services Leo was laid to rest in Giard Cemetery, rural Farmersburg, Iowa.

Leo John Knickerbocker was born on April 13, 1927, in Colesburg, Iowa, to parents Hiram and Harriett Hoifengton Knickerbocker. He received his education in the Giard School. On October 10, 1986 he was united in joyous marriage to Bernis Fite. The happy couple made their home in rural Monona until the time of Leo's death.

Leo was a logger and a trucker until he retired. His hobbies were woodcarving and working on restoring old vehicles. He had a great love for playing guitar and singing, along with playing many other musical instruments that brought great enjoyment to all of his loved ones.

Preceding Leo in death were his parents; three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Bernis; four step-children and their husbands, wives and children; three daughters; one son; three brothers, Fred, Harold and Alvin, all of Froelich; two sisters, Ruth Krugger of Giard and LaVina Bachtel of McGregor; seven step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
