Funeral Services Held For Laura Knuth

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 12, 1979 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana for Laura Sophie Knuth, who died Oct. 9 at the age of 89 years. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born the daughter of Henry and Maria Buckmann Becker, Sept. 5, 1890 in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was baptized Oct. 22, 1890 by the Rev. F. A. Schumann at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville and confirmed on April 16, 1905. Her education was received at the Eno country school.

On Dec. 10, 1912 she was united in marriage to Walter Knuth, locating on a farm south of Luana, which they farmed for 28 years before moving to Luana for 38 years. Since June she has resided at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, William and Fred and one sister, Amanda. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bernhard (Lorene) Palas, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
