Reuben Gustav Kiester was born September 18, 1908 in Linton Township, Allamakee Count, Iowa, to parents Ferdinand and Mina Timmerick Kiester. He was baptized and confirmed in Evangelical United Brethren Church. He received his education in Figgie Country School.
Reuben farmed with his brother and sisters on his home farm in Linton Township.
Reuben died Thursday, Jan. 18, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. He had been a resident there since 1981. He was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, George and 3 sisters, Emma Levenhagen, Clara Levenhagen and Ida Kiester.
Surviving is his sister Mary Kiester of Monona and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 22, 1990 at 1:30 p.m., at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Organist Ric Benzing, special music by Harlan Hass, Richard Hass, Steve Hass, Kendall Benzing, and David Schlitter. Burial in Council Hill Cemetery, rural Monona.
Pallbearers: Lindsey Timmerman, Doug Schlein, Dennis Turner, Thomas Millerk, Mike Valley and Dave Schlein. Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona in charge of services.
