Elsie Arlene (Hansel) Mallory was born the daughter of Realto and Katie (Feidt) Hansel on August 7, 1916 on the family farm near Garber, Ia. She died Thursday July 17, 2008 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

Elsie received her education at the Studebaker County School near the Hansel farm. On October 22, 1935 she was united in marriage to Clark Allen "Bob" Mallory in Galena, Illinois.

Elsie & Bob farmed the Mallory farm near Garber for over 40 years, and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and her family. Bob died April 10, 1983. In 1991 she moved from the farm to Guttenberg where she enjoyed her yard and flower beds. She was an active member of the Plagman Barn North East Iowa Farm and Antique Association.

Those left to cherish her memory, one daughter, Judith (Jim) Holthaus of Garnavillo, Ia.; one son Bruce (Judith) Mallory of Grand Rapids, Michigan, one sister Eunice Connelly of Mason City, Ia.; one sister-in-law, Corrine Hansel of Elkport; five grandchildren, Penny Holthaus, Peggy (Brett) Willie, Jenny (Brian) Johnston, Beth Mallory, and Isaac (Rebecca) Mallory; one step-granddaughter Julia (Jeff) Clark; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Leo Hansel, George Hansel, Vernon "Billie" Hansel, and Walter Hansel; and three sisters Bertha O'Connor, Lucille Hansel, Naomi Garlow; and one step grandson James Bickford.

Visitation was held Sunday July 20, 2008 at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. Graveside Service was held Monday July 21, 2008 at Rural Colesburg, Iowa. Interment; Brown Cemetery.
