John Jacob Reidel Death Obituary
John Jacob Reidel, the son of John and Mary Sautter Reidel was born on March 23rd 1890 on a farm in Clayton County and passed away at the Manchester Hospital on Wed., Aug. 11, 1965 at the age of 75 years. He attended the country schools near his home. He was united in marriage to Abbie Koth on May 9th, 1910. To this union one daughter, Marian was born. The Reidels farmed for several years and then moved to Monona where Mr. Reidel was engaged in construction work. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #70 A.F.& A.M. of Monona and the I.O.O.F. Lodge.
Mr. and Mrs. Reidel spent four winters in Arizona for his health.
He is survived by his wife, his daughter, 3 grandchildren; Kay Booth, Gary and Lary Sheffert and 8 great grandchildren whom he loved very dearly, one brother, Charlie of Monona and a sister, Lillian in Calif. and many relataives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter.
Services were held from the Appleton Funeral Home to the Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 14th by Rev. Murlin Hansel. Glen Fobes sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Gladys Holthaus. Masonic rites conducted at the graveside by the Clayton Lodge #70 of Monona. Casket bearers were: Ray H. Fuller, Harold Orr, Fred Pegglow, Wendland Baskerville, Frank Bothel and Conrad Lovig with interment in the Edgewood Cemetery.
