Dr. Paul Nicholas Moser

Dr. Paul Nicholas Moser, Postville, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, following a brief illness. He was 91.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, with the Rev. Gary Catterson officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery, rural Garnavillo, with military rites. Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 7, from 5-8 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, and also will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville is in charge of arrangements.

Paul was born on November 5, 1917, Osterdock, to John Frederick and Bertha (Brown) Moser. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1935. Paul attended Upper Iowa University and graduated from Iowa State University in 1955 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Paul also served honorably in the United States Air Force during WWII.

Paul was married to Elaine Betty Demo on July 20, 1947, at the Giard Methodist Church, Giard. Three children were born to this union. Elaine passed away on September 19, 1990. Paul ran his veterinary practice in Postville, until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed playing cards and traveling and loved spending time with all of his family. He will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who knew him.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Earl Moser; and one sister, Ruth Elaine Moser, in infancy.

Survivors include his three children, Jane (Jim) Anderson, Bettendorf, Paula (Dr. Steven) Keller, Clive, John (Rosemarie) Moser, Oelwein; three grandchildren, Paul Keller, Jaclyn Keller, Nicholas Moser and his close friend, Wanda Schlein, Oelwein.
