Rosalyn Marie Possehl

Rosalyn Marie, daughter of Oscar and Martha (Friederich) Frieden, was born April 1, 1907, at Marion Township of Clayton County, IA. She was raised and educated in the area, attending rural schools. She lived her entire life in this area.

March 1, 1930, she was united in marriage to Rudy Possehl at the Oscar Frieden home at Elkader. Four sons were born to this union. They lived and farmed in rural Elkader for many years, moving into town 12 years ago.

Rosalyn was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and its Women's Fellowship, the local Friendship Club and Elkader Cemetery Association. She enjoyed taking care of flowers, cooking and crocheting. For the past year Rosalyn has resided in the Elkader Care Center, where she died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 20, 1989, at the age of 82.

She is survived by her husband, Rudy; four sons and their wives: William and Elaine, Monona, Rollin and Dorothy, Arcadia, WI, Floyd and Janice, Elkader, and Rudy Jr. and Donna, Racine, WI; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and a brother, Orville Frieden, Elkport.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 23, 11 a.m. in Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, with Rev. Lance A. Bentley officiating. Organist was Jean Welsh, soloist was Scott Evertt and the Chancel Choir also sang.

Honorary bearers were: John Orr, Mervin Larson, Karl Tschirgi and Adolph Elvers. Casket bearers were Scott Evert, Steve Possehl, Robert Possehl, Kent Posschl, Matthew Possehl, Kurt Keppler, Larrt (sic) Teppen and Charles Whalen.

Interment was in East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Arrangements were by Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader.
