Eugene Joseph Plozel
Eugene Joseph Plozel, son of Joseph and Mayme Lestina Plozel, was born February 17, 1932. On February 17, 1951 he was united in marriage to Wanda Petersen. Eugene served in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was employed by Kuhlman Construction of Colesburg and was quarry master at a quarry near Luana.
Eugene was a member of the Amvets and had been a member of the Monona Fire Department.
He died on Tuesday, August 18, 1992 at his home in Monona. He was sixty years old.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Leonard Plozel, and a sister, Leona Plozel.
Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Plozel of Luana, David Plozel and Andrew Plozel, both of Monona; a daughter, Penny Plozel Schmelzer of Monona; four grandchildren, Janne Plozel, Teresa and Traci Schmelzer, and Kathy Plozel; a sister, Mrs. Alice Larson of Monona and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Pallbearers were Loren Plozel, Rick Bacon, Ramon Sass, Greg Mosier, Fritz Meyer and Gilbert Weithort, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Ferguson, Bob Jacobson, Arlo Graham, Marlyn Henderson, Earl Weller, Gene Ewing, Don Schlitter, Ed Tayek and Reed Lestina.
Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.
