Glenn Robert Plaehn

Funeral services were held Monday, July 3, 1978, at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona, Iowa, for Glenn Plaehn, of Monona, who passed away on July 1 at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis., at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 9 days.

Rev. Carroll Brown officiated. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kermit Klinge, Willis Timmerman, Oswald Goettler, Douglas Baade, Robert Schmidt, Jim Gerdes. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Hubacher, Roy Grove, Vern Hupfer, Telmer Olson and Clayton Ridout.

Glenn Robert Plaehn, the son of Peter and Edna McCurdy Plaehn was born October 22, 1910, in Reinbeck, Iowa. He attended school in the area. On September 7, 1941, he was united in marriage to Harriett Schmitt. To this union one son, Robert, was born.

In 1938, he moved to Monona, where he was a dealer for John Deere, later he was a Surge dealer. The last 20 years he was employed by the M-F-L- School District as bus mechanic and driver. He retired in 1974. He was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge, AF&AM 70 of Monona.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Mary. Surviving him is his wife, Harriett, one son, Robert, of Dickenson, North Dakota, his daughter-in-law, Catherine, two grandsons, Peter and Patrick, two sisters, Marlys and Jeanette Plaehn, and two brothers, Lee and Ross Plaehn, all of Waterloo, Iowa.
