Arthur Curtis Erickson
Funeral services for Arthur Erickson were held Tuesday, August 20, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. The Reverend H. W. Wolfgram officiated. Special music was provided by organist, Dorothy Wolfgram, and soloist, Marilyn Breitsprecher. Interment will be at a later date in the Phelps Cemetery at Decorah, IA. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Arthur Curtis Erickson, son of Hans and Elizabeth (Crane) Erickson, was born December 29, 1920 on a farm in Fillmore County, near Harmony, Minnesota. He passed away Saturday, August 17, 1996 at his home in Monona, IA. He had reached the age of 75 years, 7 months and 18 days.
Art attended the Marks Country School near his home. On August 31, 1945, he was married to Alice Wiltgen at Rochester, Minnesota. To this union, four children were born. The family farmed in the Harmony area. Art was employed by Midland in Harmony, then moved to Minneapolis in 1969. He moved to Monona in 1979. He had been a member of the Methodist Church in Harmony.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Emma Gladys Sharp, Carrie Brink and Venita Hanson, a nephew, Raymond Sharp and niece, Edna Sharp.
Surviving are his children: Nancy, Mrs. Rod Carolon of Ridgeway, IA; Mary Lee, Mrs. Roger Monroe of Castalia; Wayne Erickson and fiance Barb Ross of Kokomo, IN; James (Lori) Erickson of West Des Moines, IA; ten grandchildren: Laine (Jodi) Henning, Lynn Henning, Sara Corlett, Michael Corlett, Wade Monroe, Lori Bodensteiner, Tami Erickson, Jodi Erickson, Travis Erickson and Alexander Erickson; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Zachary Henning; five sisters: Mildred Papke and Florence Crowley, both of Minneapolis; Edrie Severson of Preston, MN; Thelma (Robert) Ronan and Beba Erickson, all of Coral Gables, FL and Art's special friend, Edna Klotzbach of Monona.
