Albert Berdine Erickson, Jr.
Albert Berdine Erickson, Jr. was born to Albert and Ida (Wilson) Erickson on December 11, 1922 in Highland Township, where he was raised and educated. He married Grace Louise Van Gorder on August 12, 1944. To this union two children were born: a son, Albert Lee, and a daughter, Carol Ann.
Albert farmed all of his life and has lived in the Farmersburg community for the last 34 years. He retired in 1984 and then he and Grace moved into town. For many years, Albert was an avid hunter, fisherman and bird watcher. He was a card club member, enjoyed music and dancing and he played the harmonica. He also enjoyed spending time with many friends. He was a member of the Giard United Methodist Church.
Albert entered into rest on December 10, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a brother; a granddaughter and a son-in-law. Survivors include his wife, Grace; a son, Albert Lee (Barb) Erickson of Farmersburg; a daughter Carol Ann and her finance, Albert Keenan, of Lansing; grandchildren, Larry (Joy) Lange of Lansing; Tim (Lynn) Lange of Stillwater, MN, Julie (Greg) Novak of Spillville, IA; great grandchildren: Laura Lange, Jack Lange, Travis Meyer, Sarah Lange and Cole Lange; brothers, William Erickson of Elgin, IA, and Stanley Erickson of Elkader, IA; sisters, Priscilla Groff of Central City, IA, and Ivanelle Dennler of Elkader, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 13, 1996, at 11:00 a.m. at the Giard United Methodist Church. Dr. Gary Dobbins officiated. Organist was Dorene Larson and soloist was Jeanette Bernhard. Honorary pallbearers were Vern Kuenster, Ken Kuehl, Wesley Lange, John Bernhard and Vernon Glawe. Pallbearers were Jim Bollman, Jerry West, Stanton Klinge, Jim Thyer, Jerry Jennings, and John Palas.
Burial was in the Giard Cemetery, rural McGregor, Iowa. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.
