Luana Farmer Falls From Load of Wood and Receives Injuries,
Deceased was Prominent in Social and Business Life of His CommunityLuana, March 1 Friday forenoon Henry Palas, Sr., had loaded a hog rack of block wood and started home from the woods on Hickory Creek. Apparently he either fell or was thrown off the load near the red bridge. His team of mules coming along quietly towards home, were stopped by Paul Krueger in front of the Edgar Krueger home. The two men fearing there was trouble, went to hunt him up and found him in the field on the other side of the creek, still breathing but unconscious and Paul remained while Edgar hastened to town for help summoning a doctor and notifying his family, but before they could return he had passed away. The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon from the Lutheran Church by his pastor, Rev. Kumpf, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and six children at home. Arthur on a farm nearby, and a daughter Mrs. Meyer of Postville, also several brothers and sisters with their families. Our sympathy goes out to the bereaved family. He will be greatly missed in the neighborhood as has for years been connected with the church, school, creamery, and farmers shipping interests of our community.
