Mrs. John C. Miller

Bertha Siegele was born near McGregor, Iowa in September ? 1868. She died at Emmetsburg, Iowa on ? 1929. She was the youngest child of John G. and Christina Siegele.

The first twenty years of her life were spent in the place of her birth. Here was established those traits of character and those principles of honesty and justice, and that breadth of charity tha made her loved and honored and respected by all who knew her.

In the year 1888 on the 9th of February at McGregor, Iowa, she was united in marriage to John C. Miller. To this union were born two children: Clarence J. and Fannie Viola.

Immediately after their marriage they located in Palo Alto County, Iowa, three and one half miles east of Emmetsburg. Here they remained until April 1920 when they retired, leaving their son on the home place and moved to Emmetsburg where they have since resided. Besides her husband and children she leaves three brothers, Charles of Emmetsburg, Fred, and Louis of McGregor and one sister, Mrs. Lena Davies of McGregor, Iowa. The funeral was held Wednesday, October 16, services were conducted in the M.E. Church. Rev. Marion Sunderliu of Emmetsburg, Iowa, officiating. The burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at that place.
