May 18, 1944 - Nov. 19, 2008Rita Mae (DeLong) Carlton, 64, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at her home in Jasper, Tenn.
Rita was born May 18, 1944 in LaCrosse. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic church in McGregor. Rita graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1961.
She was united in marriage to Jim Carlton on November 24, 1966 at Fallon, Nevada.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise (Steve) Lawson of Chickamauga, Georgia; one son, Jimmy (Billie) Carlton of Jasper, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Christoffer and David; a sister, Dolly Dryer of Farmersburg, Iowa; brother-in-law Frank Saddler of Harpers Ferry and nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Melvin and Ann (Mullarkey) DeLong and one sister, Bonnie Saddler.
The Tate Funeral Home of Jasper, Tenn. was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Rita was my Mom's sister. She was raised in Sny Mcgill between McGregor and Garnavillo, Clayton Co. Iowa. She left to go to school, met and married her husband. They lived in McGregor for some years before leaving abt. 1980 for Tennessee husband was a Barge Captain. Her other family lines on her Mom's side are Harpers Ferry, Wexford so even though she died in Tennessee her roots lay here.
