Lester Philip Lembke
Funeral services were held for Lester Philip Lembke at 11:00 a.m. on May 4, 2004 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, Iowa. Interment was at the East Side Cemetery, Elkader.
Lester Philip Lembke, 92, of Elkader, died Sunday morning, May 2, 2004, at the Elkader Care Center, following a long illness.
He was born September 12, 1911, in Read Township to George and Anna (Uecker) Lembke. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace United Church of Christ. He attended Denmark country school and graduated in 1930, from Elkader High School.
On May 9, 1939, he was united in marriage to Roslyn Ihde at Clayton Center. They had one daughter, Geraldine. After her death in 1968, Lester and Roslyn raised their granddaughter, Richine. Lester was a life long farmer, and farmed on the home place until moving to Elkader in 1994. Lester enjoyed spending time with family, rural life and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Roslyn Lembke, of Elkader; his granddaughter, Richine Sartain, her husband Jim and great-grandson, Ryan of North Liberty; a sister, Florence Gossman, of Elkader and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Geraldine and two brothers, Roy and Elmer Lembke.
