Visitation took place from 4 to 7 p.m. on May 6, 2004 at the Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader, Iowa and funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on May 7 at the Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, Iowa with interment in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls, Iowa for Kathleen Marie Jokumsen.

Kathleen Marie Jokumsen, 55, of Elkader, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the Elkader Care Center, following a long illness.

She was born on May 22, 1948 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to James and Margaret (Christiansen) Jokumsen.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1966, and received her bachelors degree from Luther College in 1970. Kathy taught for thirty-one years in the Central Community School District at Volga and Elkader, teaching courses in physical education, junior high mathematics and high school mathematics. She also was a coach for girls athletics for several years. Kathy was a member of the Field Hockey team at Luther College and also enjoyed ice hockey, softball, basketball and other sports as a participant, coach and spectator. She enjoyed camping and biking, and was a Boy Scout leader for several years. She was a member of the Norway Lutheran Church and active in the WELCA.

Survivors include her four sons, David (Emily Pierce) of Monticello, James (J.J.) of Pocahontas, Timothy (T.C.) and Justin of Elkader; a grandson, Tristan Pierce and one aunt, Ann Madsen of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents.
