Constance J. “Connie” Eaton

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on March 16, 2004 at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Elkader, Iowa, with interment at the East Side Cemetery, Elkader, for Constance J. Eaton, of Elkader. Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, was in charge of the arrangements.

Constance J. “Connie” Eaton, 69, Elkader, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, following a long illness. She was born on March 13, 1934, in Cresco, Iowa to Melvin and Delia (Seim) Daily. Connie graduated from Cresco High School. She was baptized on March 13, 1939, and confirmed on April 2, 1944 at the First Congregational Church in Cresco.

She was united in marriage to Charles Irwin Eaton on April 3, 1955 in Cresco. Three children were born to this union, Chuck, Lori and Brett. They made their home in Elkader.

Connie worked as a secretary for Farm Service in Elkader for several years. She worked as a secretary for Clayton County Farm Bureau for eighteen years, until her retirement. She was a member of Eastern Star for many years. Connie was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and its various women’s groups. She will be remembered as one who would take care of her neighbors and spent time looking out for others. Attending all family gatherings including their sporting events was very important to her. She loved going for a walk with her special friend, Tina. She collected humming birds, angels, mice and hugs. Connie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Eaton, of Elkader; her children, Chuck (Janis) Eaton, Jr., Lori (Monty) Burns, and Brett (Suann) Eaton, all of Elkader; and nine grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Eaton, Emily and Elizabeth Cordes, Christopher, Kyle and Kendra Burns and Nathan and Danielle Eaton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jane Bauer and three brothers, Myron Daily and two in infancy.
