Ronald D. “Bud” Smock
Funeral services were held for Ronald D. Smock at 10:30 a.m. on March 11, 2004 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood, Iowa with interment in the Edgewood Cemetery with military rites. Leonard Funeral Home, Edgewood, was in charge of the arrangements.
Ronald D. “Bud” Smock, 68, of Elkader, formerly of Edgewood, died Monday night, March 8, 2004 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home following an extended illness.
He was born November 3, 1935, in Greeley to Russell and Edna (Tyrrell) Smock. He graduated from Greeley High School in 1953.
Bud spent twenty years in the United States Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1974. He was united in marriage to Brenda Martin on February 14, 1968 in Mexico. After returning home from the service, they resided in Edgewood, where he worked for Merten Miller Construction. In 1995, they moved to Elkader, where he worked in maintenance for Central Community Hospital. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Smock, of Elkader; five sisters, Lois (Burton) Kruger, Jayne (Merten) Miller, Audrey (Ambrose) Loecke, all of Edgewood, Eva Jeanne (George) Brecht, of Walker, Joyce (Gary) Barnhart, of Greeley; a brother, Val (Carolyn) Smock, of Longwood, Florida and a sister-in-law, Mary Smock, of Edgewood. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Smock.
