Harry E. Rose
Harry Earne Rose, son of William F. and Augusta Mulenhaupt Rose, was born at La Moure, North Dakota on December 19, 1908. He passed away in the early morning hours of June 5, 1967, after a lengthy illness.
At the age of four years, Mr. Rose moved with his family to Hampton, where he lived for several years. He attended the Hampton Public Schools.
He served in the United States Army for one year, enlisting in 1928.
He was united in marriage to Rose Conway July 24, 1931 at Cedar Heights, Iowa. To this union were born three children who survive.
Mr. and Mrs. Rose operated a portable roller rink after their marriage and moved about from place to place. He and his wife farmed north of Luana where they made their home for 29 years. Following his active farming, he was a carpenter and did construction work until his health failed. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Ewald who died in infancy; and a half-sister, Evelyn Fistler.
Surviving are: his wife; sons, Darol Gene of Rock Falls, Illinois and Gary Allen of Anchorage, Alaska; his daughter, Marlys Marie Havelock of Monona; his mother who resides in Hampton; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 1:30 in Schultz's Funeral Home at Monona. Rev. Paul V. Clements, pastor of the Luana Methodist Church was in charge. Interment was in the Luana City Cemetery.
