Dorothy Dell Rose

Dorothy Dell (Carwick) Rose, daughter of Edward and Lottie (Gross) Carwick, was born June 4, 1913 at Postville, IA. Her father passed away in an accident when she was 3 years old. She spent her childhood near Waukon, IA where she attended a rural school and later attended Mankato Commercial College at Mankato, MN.

On March 18, 1936, she was united in marriage to Harold Rose at Waukon, IA. They purchased a farm north of Monona where they resided until 1969 when they retired and moved to Monona. Her husband passed away in 1979. They were the parents of two sons, Cletus of Monona and Gary of Kieler, WI.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, McGregor, IA. Dorothy passed from this life on July 4, 1999 at the age of 86 years and one month.

She is survived by children, Cletus and wife, Victoria, and Gary and wife, Lottie; seven grandchildren, Lynn and Kyle Rose, Nadine (Rose) Hansmeier, Craig, Jaunita, Clinton and Chad Rose; three step-grandchildren, Don, Tom and Sheri Hafke; one step-brother, Leonard Miller; great-grandchildren, Logan and Landon Rose, Scott and Keryn Hansmeier, and Nicholas Rose; step-great-grandchildren, Zakery Hafke and Trenton Hafke.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; an infant sister, Elizabeth; her stepfather, Frank Miller, Sr.; two step sisters, Abbie and Cynthia; one strep brother, Frank Miller, Jr., and one great grandson, Brett Hafke.
