HAROLD CHARLES ROSE
Harold Charles Rose, third eldest son of Dell and Sarah Cowell Rose, was born near Volney, Iowa on March 15, 1913, and passed from this life at the LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital on January 4, 1979, at the age of 65 years, 9 months, and 19 days. On March 18, 1936 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Carwick. They purchased a farm north of Monona in Franklin Township where they lived until 1967 when they retired and moved to Monona. To this union two sons were born, Cletus of Monona, Iowa and Gary of Dubuque, Iowa.
He spent his entire life in or near Monona. He was a great outdoors man and spent much of his spare time hunting, fishing and trapping. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, two sons, Cletus and Gary, six grandchildren, three brothers, Joe of Monona, Delbert of Caledonia, Minn., and Robert of Dubuque. Three sisters: Mrs. Bernice Schlitter, Monona, Mrs. Laurence Garms and Mrs. Carole Huseman, both of Dubuque, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and James, two sisters, Delores and Bernita.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 8, 1979, at the Garden City United Methodist "Brick" Church with Pastor Carroll Brown officiating. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Darrell, Jim, Bill, Tom, and Darrin Rose. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of the services.
