Death came to Mrs. Miles Alderson of Stanley, Wis., Monday, June 14, following a brief illness of a stroke. Services were held, Tuesday morning, at 9 o'clock from the Plombon's Funeral home at Stanley, after which the body was brought to Strawberry Point, services being held here, Wednesday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock in the home of her sister, Miss Helen Buckley, the Rev. Vernon Benson, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.Jessie Buckley was born in Strawberry Point, July 8, 1860, the daughter of the late F.R. and Helen Buckley. For several years, she was employed in the former State Bank of this place. In October of 1896, she was married to Miles Alderson, who is a brother of Dr. James Alderson of Dubuque, whose wife is the former Mary Buckley, sister of Jessie. The couple traveled to Europe on their wedding trip. With the exception of about two years, when Mr. Alderson was a druggist in Manchester, Iowa, the couple were engaged in farming, until their retirement several years ago. They first farmed near Strawberry Point, and moved to the vicinity of Stanley about 35 years ago.
Surviving, besides her husband, are three sisters, Miss Helen Buckley and Mrs. B.W. Newberry of Strawberry Point and Mrs. James Alderson of Dubuque. There are also three nieces. One sister, Mrs. Sarah Taintor of Ripon, Wis., and one brother, Park Buckley of Strawberry Point, preceded her in death.
