Miss Mary Gemmill, a resident of Fayette for many years, passed away Wednesday of last week at the home of Mrs. Nellie Walker.
Although she has been a resident of Fayette for many years, not much was known concerning her. It is thought that she is a native of McGregor. Her occupation during her residence here was that of a seamstress, and many are the people of this vicinity for whom she was employed in that capacity.
Miss Gemmill had been in failing health for several weeks and recently had been staying in the home of Mrs. Nellie Walker. She had passed away several hours before she was found. It is said that she had two brothers, one at Manchester, Iowa, and one at McGregor, both of whom had preceded her in death. The final services for Miss Gemmill were held Friday afternoon of last week, May 14, at the Bellew Funeral Home at 2 o'clock.
