Frederick Wm. Lange was born September 21 1868 in Giard Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He always lived on the same farm, it being his father’s farm before him.

June 19 1901 he was married to Mrs. Lena Lange. Two sons were born to them, Kenneth and Wesley.

Mr. Lange had not been in good health for some years. Two months ago it became apparent that a surgical operation was necessary, so he went to the Hospital at McGregor, where he was confined to his bed of sickness for two months less two days. In spite of all that was done for his recovery, and the good care he received while in the hospital he could not regain his physical strength and gradually he grew weaker and died Friday Feb. 26 (auth note: 1926) at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 5 days.

All during the time of his sickness Mr. Lange was very patient never complained, and at first was very hopeful, that he would recover; but God in his wise providence wherein he never makes any mistake, undoubtedly thought, that Mr. Lange had born life’s burdens, cares, and disappointments, as they come to all of us, more or less, long enough and consented to his release. When he became aware of the fact, that it was a physical impossibility for him to get well, his desire was to depart this life and to be at home with the Lord.

He leaves his wife, Lena Lange, 2 sons, Kenneth of Monona, and Wesley of Giard, 2 grand children, one stepson, Carl of LaCrosse, Wis. And 3 brothers: August of Portland Oregon, Henry of Los Angeles Cal., Julius of St. Paul Minn., One sister in Sterling Nebraska, and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Lange was a member of the Methodist church at Giard. Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. J. L. Menzer of the Giard M. E. church Monday P. M. at one o’clock a the home and two o’clock at the church assisted by the Rev. Hillman of Monona Evangelical church.
