Leonard Charles Seitz

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. December 11, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, IA for Leonard Charles Seitz with interment in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. Leonard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Leonard Charles Seitz at the age of 65 passed away December 8, 2007, at the Guttenberg Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 21, 1942, to Rufus and Sybil (Cowell) Seitz in Volney, Iowa. He was baptized July 1, 1948, at Volney Methodist Church and confirmed on June 26, 1955. He was later confirmed into the Lutheran faith on March 17, 1967, at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Leonard attended Volney Country School through the sixth grade and continued his education at Monona-Farmersburg graduating in 1960.

Leonard was united in marriage to Marlys Miller on September 10, 1966, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Three children were born to this union. He married Edith (Schuldt) Lerch on July 5, 2003, at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader.

Leonard served as a U.S. Army Specialist, stationed in Germany from 1961 to 1964, as a Diesel Mechanic, 4th class. He was employed at the St. Olaf Creamery, farmed east of Monona and worked for Midwest Breeders. After moving to town in 1977, Leonard joined Seitz Brothers Construction. He was a member of the AmVets Post 27 and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Leonard enjoyed playing cards, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, watching the Cubs, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his wife Edith, Elkader; two daughters, Lisa (Mark) Lane, Cox's Creek, KY; Jeana (Roger) Marcoux, Sioux Rapids; son Chad, Boone; three grandchildren, Tyler, Danielle and Levi Marcoux, all of Sioux Rapids; step-children, Vicki (Jim) Koprowski, Brighton, CO; Linda (Gary) Vitek, Marion; Larry (Janis) Lerch, Elkader; Lonny (Chris) Lerch, Cedar Rapids; Loren (Evonne) Lerch, Waterboro, SC; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; brother Louis (Shirley) Seitz, Monona; sister Sarah (Larry) Butikofer, Elgin; sisters-in-law, Betty Seitz, West Union; Donna Seitz, Clermont; Joyce (Robert) Melcher, Monona; Annes Kenney, Cedar Rapids, Clara Schuldt, Wadena Joyce Schuldt, Winthrop; brothers-in-law, Dale (Arlene) Miller, Fredericksburg; Ronnie (Diana) Miller, Monona; Raymond (Diana) Schuldt, Volga and many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marlys, step-son Bernard Puffett; brothers, Earl and Dale; sister Anna Mae (Claude) Moose; sister-in-law Janice Seitz; brother-in-law John Schuldt; and nephew Jack Seitz.
