Ruth Ann Peterson, 63, of Strawberry Point died Monday, January 15, 2007 at Central Community Hospital in Elkader of congestive heart failure. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 19, at the Roberson Funeral Home in Strawberry Poin. Services wre held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 at Emanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Jason Cooper officiating. Burial was in the Norway Lutheran Church cemetery at St. Olaf, IA.

Ruth was born in St. Olaf, IA to Thomas and Mabel (Bergan) Peterson on August 28, 1943. She graduated from Central Community High School, Elkader in 1961. She graduated from Luther College in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.

Ruth taught elementary education for two years in Lansing and 33 years at Starmont Schools until her retirement. She taught Sunday School for 42 years at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point.

Ruth enjoyed many family gatherings and she treasured her pet cats and wrote several childrens books about them. Scrapbooking and organizing photo books were also her hobbies.

She is survived by one brother, Wayne (Bernadine) Peterson of Elkader and one sister, Mavis Peterson of St. Olaf, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harold Peterson, and two nephews, Arlyn Peterson and Kent Peterson.

Casket Bearers were Dan Wood, Tim Wood, Darrell Peterson, Dennis Peterson, Travis Brink Nick Brink.
