Mother leaves 176 Direct Descendants

Messrs & Mesdames William Rasmuson, Donald Rasmuson, George Krambeer, Chris Bashans & Leo Krambeer went to Luana, Iowa to attend the funeral of the mother of Mrs. Wm. Rasmuson & Mr. George Krambeer - the late Augusta Krambeer, who died at the advanced age of 92 years, leaving a line of 176 direct descendants.

The following obituary was clipped from the Monona, Iowa Leader:

Mrs. Augusta Engelhardt Krambeer, 92, was buried Thursday afternoon at services held from St. John's Lutheran church, Luana, to the Luana cemetery with Rev. Paul Adix officiating.
Mrs. Krambeer died Monday night December 9, at 8:30 o'clock after being confined to her bed the past year in the home of Mrs. Minnie Collins.

Mrs. Krambeer, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Engelhardt, was born September 14, 1848 in Aukian, Pommen, Germany. She was baptized in the land where she spent her early childhood.

In 1861, when 13 years old, she migrated to this country with her parents & settled with them near Garnavillo. She was married to Mr. John Krambeer, November 15, 1857 at Clayton Center. She & her husband than in those pioneer days proceeded to make their living at farming on various farms until the time of their retirement 30 years ago.

In 1920 she & her husband came to Luana & established a home in the house now occupied by Mrs. Minnie Collins & children. After the death of Mr. Krambeer, Feb. 17, 1932, Mrs Collins & family moved in with Mrs. Krambeer to care for her.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church & Ladies Aid Society for 30 years.

She was the mother of 14 children, two of whom preceded her in death along with her husband.

She is survived by seven sons, Henry, John, Louis & Ben of Luana; Charles & Robert of Lodgepole, South Dakota; & George of Britt; five daughters, Mrs. August Doerring of Kenosha, Wis., Mrs. Wm. Rasmuson of Britt, Mrs. Minnie Collins of Luana, Mrs. Wm. C. Landt of Medford, Minn., Mrs. Harry Koth of Kenosha, Wis.; 71 grandchildren; 92 great grandchildren & one great great grandchild.
