June E. Drahn, 91, McGregor, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. The Rev. Bruce L.Hanson officiated. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona.

Music was provided by Lafond Scherf, organist, and Kent and Carole Henning, soloists.

June Elizabeth Alfrieda Fox was born June 5, 1915 in Mendon Township, daughter of Henry and Elsie (Schroeder) Fox. She was baptized Aug. 1, 1915, by Rev. J. Bird. June was confirmed Dec. 17, 1933, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, by Pastor A. Daugs. She attended school in Monona and graduated from Monona High School in 1932.

On Aug. 8, 1933, she was united in marriage to Elmer Drahn at Galena, Ill. To this union five children were born. They started farming south of Postville and moved to the Drahn home farm near Farmersburg in March, 1938. In February, 1953, they moved to their home in Farmersburg.

Elmer and June had the privilege to celebrate their Golden Anniversary on Aug. 8, 1983. They lived in Farmersburg until Elmer's death on Feb. 6, 1986. June continued to live in Famersburg until September, 1996, when she moved to an apartment in Monona. She lived in Monona until failing health caused her to move to the Great River Care Center at McGregor in October, 2004. On Dec. 26, 2006, June fell and broke both hips and was taken to the Gunderson Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis., where she died on Dec. 31, 2006.

Survivors include one son, Roger (Virginia) Drahn, Monona; two daughters: Bonnie (Dale) Henning, McGregor and Carole (Louis) Holly, Monicello; five grandchildren: Kevin and Kent Henning, Dennis Drahn, Jeff Holly and Christi Gesie; great-grandchildren Travis and Justin Henning, Milisa Andrews, Jessie (Jeremy) Nagle, Cory Chandler, Casey and Chelsie Drahn, Jessie and Nikki Gesie and ten great-great-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two infant sons; a grandson, Rick Drahn, and her brother, Lowell Fox.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, and from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Thursday.

Casket bearers were Jeff Holly, Dennis Drahn, Kevin Henning, Kent Henning, Travis Henning, Justin Henning, Cory Drahn, Chandler Drahn, and Chisti Gesie.
