Basil Jonathan Douglas, husband of the former Marjorie Thornton of Postville, passed away May 26 in Madison, Wis., after a long illness. Funeral services were held at the Lake funeral home in Prairie du Chien, Wis., Thursday, May 29, and interment was in the Giard cemetery.

Mr. Douglas was born at McGregor on January 21, 1920, and attended and graduated from the high school in that city.

He was married to Marjorie Thornton of Postville on July 22, 1939, and to this union three children were born, Denice, Colleen and Sally, who with the wife survive.

About five years ago the family moved to Prairie du Chien and that city had since been their home.

Also surviving are his parents, a brother, Colas, of McGregor; a sister, Ferne (Mrs. Earl Hinzman) of Amana, and an aunt, Mrs. Ella Elvert, of Prairie du Chien, who raised him from childhood, besides several other uncles and aunts and many friends.
